Opening Reception & Retrospective Celebration of Robert Russin

Opening Reception & Retrospective Celebration of Robert Russin

Celebrate the life and legacy of renowned sculptor Robert Russin at the Nicolaysen Art Museum’s Opening Reception on Saturday, February 8, from 5:30-7:30 PM. This event marks the launch of a special retrospective exhibit, featuring a stunning collection of pieces from Russin’s private collection, generously donated by his family.

The evening honors Russin’s enduring influence on Casper’s cultural landscape and ties into the 50th anniversary celebrations of his iconic Prometheus sculpture, dedicated in front of the Natrona County Library on February 8, 1975. Just as Prometheus once illuminated the night with its reflective finish, beams of light will shine once again on this night to honor Russin’s contributions to the art world and Wyoming.

Russin’s sons will be in attendance, offering a rare opportunity to hear personal stories about their father, his love for Wyoming, and the creative process behind his works. They’ll also share insights into why they chose the NIC to house this exceptional collection.

Russin’s Legacy
Robert Russin was a prolific artist whose work ranged from monumental public sculptures to deeply personal pieces. His creations, such as Prometheus and Man and Energy, have become iconic landmarks in Casper, while his art continues to inspire audiences across the country and beyond. This exhibit, curated in partnership with the Nicolaysen Art Museum, showcases the depth of his talent and celebrates his passion for Wyoming.
