Tween Book Club: "A Place to Hang the Moon" by Kate Albus

Join us for Tween Book Club on Monday, April 27 at 4 PM in the Crawford Room as we explore "A Place to Hang the Moon" by Kate Albus, a beloved historical novel inspired by the real-life evacuation of children during World War II.

Set in 1940 England, this heartfelt story follows three siblings, William, Edmund, and Anna, who are sent from London to the countryside to escape the bombing during the war. Orphaned and unsure of what the future holds, they hope their new home might also bring them something they have always wanted: a real family. Life in the small village is not easy, especially with a strict guardian watching their every move. But when the children discover the local library and meet a kind librarian, they begin to find comfort in books, courage in each other, and hope that somewhere there may be a place where they truly belong.

Tween Book Club is a welcoming space for students in grades 4-6 to share their thoughts, ask questions, and explore powerful stories together. Whether you connected with the siblings’ search for home, loved the historical setting, or enjoyed the many bookish moments throughout the story, your perspective matters.

Pick up a free copy of the book at the Children’s Desk while supplies last. The book is yours to read in advance and keep, helping you build your own home library. Call 577.7323 for more information.
