Reading the West Book Club: "The Three-Cornered War" by Megan Kate Nelson
Join us for November’s Reading the West Book Club on Tuesday, November 4 at 6 PM, hosted at the historic Fort Caspar Museum. This month, we’ll explore Megan Kate Nelson’s critically acclaimed narrative history The Three-Cornered War.
Reading the West Book Club is a monthly gathering that delves into books exploring the landscapes, legacies, and people of the American West. Each month, we come together to discuss stories that reflect the region’s rich and often complex heritage.
This November, we’ll be reading The Three-Cornered War, which offers a vivid, multi-perspective look at how the Civil War unfolded in the American Southwest. Nelson weaves together the stories of nine individuals—soldiers, civilians, Native leaders, and politicians—to show how the battle for control of this region shaped the war and the future of the West. It’s an illuminating and gripping account that challenges traditional Civil War narratives by expanding the battlefield beyond the East and into the deserts and mountains of the West.
Pick up your free copy of the book at the Library and come ready for a lively and thought-provoking discussion. For more information, call 577.7323 or visit our website. We hope to see you there!
