40th Annual Humanities Festival Book Club: "The Power of Play" by David Elkind
Join us as we celebrate the 40th Annual Casper College Humanities Festival & Demorest Lecture, taking place September 27 – October 4, 2025. This year’s theme, “The Power of Play,” invites us to explore how creativity, imagination, and joyful exploration shape our lives and communities.
As part of the festival, the Natrona County Library is proud to once again host the official book discussion, held on Tuesday, September 30 at 5:00 PM in the Crawford Room. We’ll be discussing The Power of Play: Learning What Comes Naturally by child development expert David Elkind, a thought-provoking work that examines how free, unstructured play is critical to a child’s emotional and intellectual growth—especially in a culture that increasingly prioritizes structured learning and screen time.
Complimentary copies of the book are available now at the Library’s 2nd Floor Reference Desk (while supplies last). The discussion is free and open to the public, and all are welcome—whether you've read the entire book or are just curious about the topic.
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow community members and reflect on the role of play in shaping our individual and collective lives.
