Poetry Out Loud Workshop
Calling all teens who love poetry, drama, or performing! Join us for two Poetry Out Loud Workshops in January, hosted in partnership with Casper College.
- Thursday, January 9th, at 4:00 PM: This workshop will dive into the Poetry Out Loud program, covering everything you need to know to participate. Learn about the rules, explore the POL anthology, and practice reciting poems in a supportive environment.
- Thursday, January 30th, at 4:00 PM: Shift your focus to writing poetry during this workshop. Discover tips and techniques for creating your own poetic works and channel your creativity into crafting powerful verses.
Poetry Out Loud is a free arts education program from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, giving high school students the chance to explore poetry, build confidence, and compete for awards, including a $20,000 national prize!
Don’t forget: The Library will host a local competition on Saturday, February 1st, with the winner advancing to state finals in Cheyenne and potentially to the national stage in Washington, DC.
For more information about the workshops or the competition, call Ismael Dominguez with the Wyoming Arts Council at 307-275-4476. These workshops are free and open to the public. Start your poetic journey with us!
