Bells Across America Celebration

Bells Across America Celebration

Join us on Wednesday, September 17th, at 1:30 PM for a special Bells Across America event, hosted in partnership with the Fort Caspar Chapter of the Wyoming Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This event commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787, with a nationwide bell ringing at 2:00 PM MDT to mark the 238th anniversary. We’ll gather in the Prometheus area outside the Library for a brief ceremony, followed by the ringing of bells. Bring a bell from home or use one of ours!

After the ceremony, we’ll head inside for light refreshments. This event is free and open to the public, and we encourage families and history enthusiasts to attend.

For more information, call 577-7323. Celebrate Constitution Day with us and take part in this meaningful tradition!

Before radios, television, telephones, and the Internet, bell ringing was used to announce significant information to the community, such as the news that on September 17, 1787, the Delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia had reached an agreement and a Constitution for the new Nation was the result! “Bells Across America” will be celebrated nationwide at 4 PM EST / 2 PM MST so that bells are heard simultaneously from coast to coast for one minute.
