Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Series: Building Foundations of Caregiving

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Series: Building Foundations of Caregiving

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia can be overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. Join us at the Library for a four-part Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Series, presented in partnership with the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. These free educational programs are designed to provide practical information, emotional support, and local resources for caregivers and family members navigating memory loss and dementia-related challenges.

The series will take place on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM in the Library’s Crawford Room. You’re welcome to attend any or all sessions—no need to commit to the full series. Each class features expert guidance, real-world caregiving strategies, and time for Q&A.

Wednesday, November 5 – 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s
Learn to recognize the common warning signs of Alzheimer’s and how they differ from normal aging. This session covers the importance of early detection, next steps after noticing symptoms, and available resources to support individuals and families facing a diagnosis.

Wednesday, November 12 – Building Foundations of Caregiving
Explore the basics of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, including how the diseases affect thinking, behavior, and daily life. This class introduces key caregiving principles and practical tools to build a strong care foundation from day one.

Wednesday, November 19 – Communicating Effectively & Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
As the disease progresses, communication can become more challenging. Learn how to interpret behavioral signals, respond with empathy, and adjust your approach for better outcomes and stronger connections.

Wednesday, December 10 – Managing Money: A Caregiver’s Guide to Finances
Planning ahead is one of the greatest gifts a caregiver can offer. This session focuses on how to manage someone else’s finances, plan for future care costs, and take early steps to ensure financial security for everyone involved.

This series is free and open to the public. Whether you’re just starting your caregiving journey or have years of experience, these programs will help you feel more confident, informed, and supported. For more information, call 577.7323.
